An innocent baby is dead. “Baby daddy” is under arrest and the spotlight of the media is on this dysfunctional family if you can call this unit such.
An 18-year-old “baby daddy” is under arrest for child endangerment. “Baby momma” is just 16 years old.
That means, if you do the math, she was 15 when she conceived. He was a mere 17.
At issue is the death of a 3-month-old baby taken to Cleveland Clinic and pronounced dead.
Attending health care providers noticed unusual marks around the baby’s eye and neck area. The case is under review by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office which is expected to make a ruling as to manner and cause of death.
Regardless of what the pathology verdict reveals, at the end of the day it boils down to immature teens procreating when they should be concerned with making good grades in school instead of making out-of-wedlock children.
It is a blight that has become all too common in Black communities across the nation, to include Cleveland.
Until the advent of the Great Society championed by Democrat President Lyndon Baines Johnson, over 80 percent of Black households had a two-parent unit. Back in the day, it was a stigma to have a child without benefit of marriage.
Today, it’s a common occurrence and nobody dares say a word.
This is not a moralist’ screed. Instead it is a recognition that the African-American family is in big trouble in all too many instances.
The case of the 3-month-old infant death is a glaring example of this breakdown in family values and common sense.
This particular family has been on the radar screen of the county’s department of children and family services.
Grandma had custody of the three-month old and Lord knows where the teen momma’s momma is.
It’s all a hot mess and one that we as a society have to deal with.
An innocent baby is dead. “Baby daddy” is under arrest and the spotlight of the media is on this dysfunctional family if you can call this unit such.
It’s time to get back to some old fashioned values in our community.
