Congress’ move to ding Holder and with him, the president, is little more than political theater.

It wasn’t a scant two hours after the U.S. Supreme Court gave President Obama a victory in upholding his landmark health care reform legislation that the U.S. House of Representatives voted across party lines to hold U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress for failing to turn over documents in a case dubbed “Operation Fast and Furious.”

This covert initiative, green lighted by the Department of Justice, ostensibly was to be a sting operation designed to provide Mexican drug cartels with weapons in the hopes of tracking their movements and stemming the flow of illegal narcotics into the U.S.

Instead, we now know, the plot went horribly array when weapons supplied to the cartels by the government ended up being used to kill a federal law enforcement officer.

Since this news was made public the Republican dominated Congress has put a bulls eye on the back of AG Holder; the first Black Attorney General in U.S. history and appointed by President Obama.

And now that Holder has been held in contempt of Congress, the fire works are going to go sky high.

Holder’s admonishment comes in the wake that he refused to turn over internal documents about Operation Fast and Furious.

Even the president tried to cite Executive Privilege to shield his Attorney General.

In the end, the ploy didn’t work and now yet another battle begins on the political front in a presidential election year.

It’s time to put politics aside and concentrate on getting this nation back on track economically.
