We’re out of control. Sorry, that’s the way it is

Washington, D.C., Chicago and Cleveland have some of the tightest gun control ordinances on the books.

Over the past weekend, Cleveland saw a slew of homicides that were all Black related and by gunfire.

Each incident didn’t have to happen.

Each killing happened to come about based on pure inability of a perpetrator who believed that a gun could solve a problem.

To the west of us, Chicago saw nine African-Americans dead by gunshots and another 28 wounded over last weekend.

Again, “street ghetto justice” reigned supreme in settling an argument.

There was a point in this newspaper’s history that we thought that stricter gun control would be the answer to diminishing the lawlessness and dead bodies in our communities; both locally and nationally.

We now see this is not the answer.

Washington, D.C., Chicago and Cleveland have some of the tightest gun control ordinances on the books.

We ask why these laws aren’t working?

The answer is simple: Crooks don’t care. And our vulnerable don’t know where to turn.
