Voting hours at polling places should not be a key component to casting a ballot.
The Republican Party just doesn’t get it when it comes to the issue of voting in this November’s presidential election or for that matter trying to make head way with a key constituency.
While the Grand Old Party seeks to make voting fair with standardized polling hours throughout Ohio’s 88 counties and to insure that there won’t be any voter fraud by way of voter ID to cast a ballot, the Party just doesn’t get it that African Americans just don’t trust them.
And that’s a sad commentary in a nation based on a two-party system.
We’re going to say what no other Black newspaper in this nation will say. The same goes for obsequious cable networks like CNN, MSNBC, et al that pander to African Americans.
Let the “chips fall” where they may in this presidential election.
Republicans must make their case.
Democrats must make their case.
Voting hours at polling places should not be a key component to casting a ballot.
Our Black fore fathers made no excuses for going to the polls in the Deep South despite poll taxes and literacy tests.
And now we have potential voters who scream about voter photo ID being required.
Give us a break.
