Kaiser Permanente deserves kudos for health care grants

To Kaiser Permanente, we hope that you as well will “live and prosper.”

Kaiser Permanente has given nearly $175,000 in grants to 10 local organizations improving residents’ access to health care.

Twice each year Kaiser awards two rounds of Thriving Community Grants.

This is not only a noble gesture, but goes a long way in insuring that the least among us can have some semblance of health care at no cost.

Kaiser’s grants are distributed among a myriad of worthwhile social and health care organizations that desperately need whatever dollars they can amass.

At the top of the recipient list is the Free Clinic of Greater Cleveland; an organization that has been a safety net to those who need it most.

Kaiser was also wise in distributing money to the May Dugan Center to provide health screening and health education for uninsured and underinsured residents of Cleveland’s west side.

Not to be outdone, Kaiser provided funding to the Cuyahoga County Community College Foundation to shore up Tri-C’s Bridgeport Food Program which provides seniors in Cleveland’s Kinsman neighborhood with health screenings, nutrition education, exercise instruction and cooking lessons at the new Bridgeport Market and Community Kitchen.

It is such acts of philanthropy that enhance the lives of Greater Cleveland residents while adding to their longevity.

Northeast Ohio is blessed to have health care organizations that have a commitment to area residents and to the region they serve.

To Kaiser Permanente, we hope that you as well will “live and prosper.”

A very sincere gesture on your part; we commend you for that.
