HerMaya Monae Shepherd is the daughter of Herbert and Deborah Shepherd. She resides in Woodmere, Ohio, attends Orange High School, and has maintained a 3.5 grade point average.
Shepherd has been on High Honor Roll every marking period, and has had perfect attendance for 13 years.
Her favorite subject is History because she loves learning about events from the past. She is a member of Key Club, Project Support, Latin Club, Choir, and a Senior Editor of the yearbook.
Shepherd is currently enrolled in The Early Childhood Education Excel TECC program in the Beachwood School District. She serves as the president of Family Community Career Leaders of America in her class. She currently interns in a second grade classroom at John Dewey Elementary in The Warrensville Heights School District.
Shepherd has been a member and captain of the varsity basketball and volleyball team. She has earned several varsity letters, all-conference, all-district, and most valuable player awards.
Shepherd is interested in becoming a Speech Pathologist and plans to study Communication Sciences and Disorders in the fall at The University of Cincinnati.
She hobbies are working with children, reading, and writing poetry.
She likes watching all types of sports, especially volleyball, which she plays on a Junior Olympics volleyball team. Also, she loves shopping, spending time with her family, friends, and being of services to those in need. HerMaya thinks of herself as outgoing, organized, determined, and a great leader.
Her motto is, “Everything you receive in life is acquired through hard work and dedication.” She also feels, “If you miss a day, you’re missing knowledge that can’t be made up.”
