Mt. Zion Oakwood Village - Martin Luther King Jr.’s teachings will march through Greater Cleveland with historical performances, interactive workshops, voices of praise, children’s activities and an oratorical awards presentation. Keynote speakers include Dr. Curtis Austin of Ohio State University, Rev. Gerald Cooper from St. James AME Church and Edward Little, Cuyahoga County Office of Reentry to discuss King’s social, political and economic legacy. The event is free and open to the public at Mt. Zion’s Fine Arts Center. No ticket is required. Parking is free and a reception will be held at 6 p.m. the 2012 MLK celebration begins at 7 p.m. To arrange special seating for a family member or love one with limited mobility, please call (440) 232-2645.

"The Quest for Peace and Justice" -- 7 a.m. Program at 7:30 a.m. Adjournment 10 a.m. 27th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Birthday Breakfast. The largest event of its kind in the United States honoring Dr. King, Greater Columbus Convention Center, 400 North High Street. Keynote speaker, The Rev. Dr. Otis Moss, Jr., Chairman of Morehouse College Board of Trustees, Board member and Regional Director of SCLC during Dr.King's tenure as founding president. Featured are three student oratory tributes from Columbus City Schools, MKL Youth Oratorical Contest and Morehouse College. Highlighted will be youth soloist Erin Posey, Living Faith Apostolic Church.

The Gallery at Lakeland Community College is hosting the “Celebrate Black History: Our Stories in Art,” exhibit through January 26 on the main college campus, 7700 Clocktower Drive, Kirtland, 44094, building D, first floor. Guest curator: Heather C. Terry.
A tribute to Martin Luther King Jr. will be held on Monday, January 16, 2012, from 6 – 8 p.m. in Lakeland’s Performing Arts Center.
