The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Greater Cleveland Chapter will host their 21st Women of Vision Luncheon honoring Barbara J. Danforth, Senior Vice President at Ratliff & Taylor.  The Women of Vision Luncheon is the organizations largest event.

For more than 22 years, this chapter had advocated in the community on behalf of Black Women and other women of color through national and local actions along with strategic alliances that promote leadership development and gender equality in the areas of health, education, and economic empowerment.

This year, the honoree, Attorney Barbara Danforth brings more than 20 years of executive and civic leadership.  Prior to this position, she served as CEO of the YWCA of Greater Cleveland. Ms. Danforth is highly committed to addressing the many issues that we face as a community; particularly those that affect our young women.  Her many accomplishments and organizational affiliations demonstrated her service and dedication as a professional and community leader.

The luncheon will be held this Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Executive Caters at Landerhaven.

The NC100BW is a national non-profit organization of women committed to advocacy and community service. As mentors and volunteers, we champion issues of health and wellness, economic development; and, education that disproportionally impacts African American women and children. We’ve hosted seminars on Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), Sickle Cell Anemia, and HIV/AIDS.

Some of our past “Women of Vision” honorees include Margot James Copeland, Executive Vice President, Key Corp.; Dr. Jerry Sue Thornton, President of Cuyahoga Community College; Danita Harris, News Channel 5 Anchor and Community Activist; Congresswoman Marcia Fudge, Connie Harper, Executive Vice President of the Call & Post Newspaper; and the late Congresswoman, Stephanie Tubbs Jones.

Patricia Turner Cunningham is the chapter president. Audra T. Jones is chairperson for the luncheon and Andrea Dockery is the co chairperson.
