New bike trail to start Wednesday October 12-2011CLEVELAND – On Wednesday, October 12, 2011 construction will begin on the rehabilitation of DeForest Road between Carnegie Avenue and Cedar Avenue. Southbound traffic from Carnegie Avenue will be rerouted to Stokes Blvd. and Cedar Avenue. Pedestrian traffic will remain open on the west side of DeForest Road.
This traffic advisory will remain in place through November 2011. Detour signs will be posted. Expect additional notices as work progresses that will impact traffic flow.
• The Lake to Lakes Bike Trail Project is an extension of an existing 10-foot wide bike trail from Carnegie Avenue to the Shaker Heights city limits, including Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Rudy Rogers Park, and Stokes-Fairhill Road.
• Project work includes the reconstruction of the existing median island and the construction of new ADA ramps and pedestrian signals. The City of Cleveland is receiving funds from the Ohio Department of Transportation and American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) from the Department of Energy to construct the project.
• The project is scheduled for completion by August 2012.
