CLEVELAND - Hundreds of guns are off the streets of Cleveland, as the city, along with Euclid, Parma, Lakewood and Shaker Heights reduce violent crime.

Last month, Greater Cleveland had a buyback program where they collected more than 700 firearms.

On Thursday, the City of Cleveland and ArcelorMittal, the world's leading integrated steel and mining company, held a gun melt.

The weapons were thrown into a blast furnace where they will be transformed into recycled steel. The melted guns will then be used to make a number of consumer goods, including cars, washing machines and refrigerators.
