Daily events during historic Navy Week

Cleveland Navy Week/Commemoration of the Bicentennial of the War of 1812 began Monday, August 27!  A celebration of the nation’s sea services, many public events will occur including Bicentennial of the War of 1812 presentations as well as performances by the U.S. Navy Band, U.S. Navy Divers, U.S. Navy Blue Angels and the Leap Frogs, the U.S. Navy’s parachute demonstration team.

Approximately 80 percent of the world’s population lives near the seas and nearly 90 percent of goods are transported by sea, which is why the U.S. Navy is “America’s Away Team” and relied upon to keep the peace and our sea lanes open or, when needed, bring the fight.  Cleveland Navy Week/ Commemoration of the Bicentennial of the War of 1812 provides Northeast Ohio residents an opportunity to meet Sailors, Coast Guardsmen and Marines, as well as witness the modern capabilities of today’s maritime services firsthand that help preserve our national security and the American way of life.
