The 44th President of The United States, Barack Hussein Obama will return to Ohio on Labor Day with stops inClevelandandToledo. It is expected that he will visit the traditional Labor Day festivities atLukeEasterPark.

No one in Northeast Ohio likes to think about summer coming to an end, but one end-of-summer event is eagerly anticipated by Greater Clevelanders each year, the 11th Congressional District Community Caucus Annual Labor Day Parade and Festival.

It takes place this year in conjunction with the North Shore AFL-CIO from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday, September 3rd at Luke Easter Park in Cleveland’s Mt.Pleasantneighborhood.

The 11th Congressional District Labor Day Parade and Festival is celebrating 41 years of community and political empowerment. Since 1971, the Labor Day Parade and Festival concludes the summer in style.

“The place to be, this Labor Day, is Luke Easter Park,” said Congresswoman Marcia Fudge.

The parade steps off at 10 a.m. from E. 146th and Kinsman, with Fudge. On the year of the presidential election, the North Shore AFL-CIO joins The 11th Congressional District Community Caucus parade to create an even larger and diverse parade.

As the parade delegations descend on the park, the festival begins.

Parade and Festival Chair, Ariane Kirkpatrick, said, “This year’s event will be one you won’t want to miss. We have performances by The Benjaminz and the Cleveland Blues All Stars, line dancing and a variety of local talent – something for everybody.”

There will be special areas for kids and seniors, with the Kids’ Village offering face painting and crafts, and Senior Town giving older folks a place to sit, relax and enjoy the food and entertainment away from the jostling crowd.

Everyone in the diverse 11th Congressional District is invited to attend the festival.
