Cuyahoga County moving in right direction with Ameritrust building plans
CLEVELAND -- The Cuyahoga County Council heard a presentation on the proposal to sell the county's Ameritrust complex to Geis Companies Wednesday evening.
Geis is one of eight bidders on the project. The Streetsboro company was recommended to the county by CBRE consultants as the best choice to buy and develop the property.
The plans for the tower and bank building include retail and living space, as well as a new Cuyahoga County Administration building, to be constructed by Geis.
Chaim Schoche of Optima Ventures, LLC, gave a presentation to the council, hoping they would negotiate another sales proposal.
Optima was the second-place bidder on the project.
The County Council will meet again on Jan. 8 for a second reading of the recommendation to sell to Geis.
