Fudges Corner Week of 8-1-2012

fudgewebIf Republicans get their way and continue the reign of this “do nothing” Congress, nearly 120 million families will see their taxes go up an average of $1,600.

Hard working American families are faced with stagnant wages, decreased benefits and the highest unemployment rates in years. While, the wealthy and multi billion dollar corporations are sitting on trillions of dollars and awaiting more tax breaks.

This week, the Senate voted to reward hard working Americans struggling to make a living, by passing a bill that would extend tax cuts for 98 percent of Americans, and 97 percent of small business.

Finally, we are taking steps toward bringing relief to the citizens of this great nation.

But, this week as the bill moves forward to the House, Republicans are still fighting to raise taxes on middle class families and give the wealthiest among us a $150,000 tax cut.

The Senate bill extends tax cuts for the hard working middle class and lets them expire for the wealthy. With a trillion dollar deficit, our country cannot afford to continue giving money to the top two percent of American’s making an average of $800,000 per year. What about the middle class, what about small business owners, what about the core of American’s economy?

This system is unfair to middle class Americans, working to provide basics for their families in the midst of an economic deficit.

As the Senate bill reaches the House, Republicans have vowed to protect the richest Americans. Republicans plan to raise taxes on 25 million American middle class families by an average of $1,000, while adding nearly $1 trillion dollars more to the deficit than the Democratic plan.

If Republicans get their way and continue the reign of this “do nothing” Congress, nearly 120 million families will see their taxes go up an average of $1,600.

Instead of voting to hurt the American middle class and save small business, Republics could vote to save Americans. I am fighting each day to protect the rights of the voiceless among us. We can save benefits and reward hard-working Americans. It is time forAmericato get back to work and regain its status as the world’s most powerful country, and it begins with a vote by Congress for the people of this great nation.
