CLEVELAND - A man who shot at an 11-year-old girl on Cleveland's east side will spend several years behind bars.
Charles DuBose, 55, was sentenced on Tuesday to eight years in prison for shooting at the young girl on E. 118th Street in June.
According to witnesses, Ivhan'e Merritt, 11, and a friend were playing around a parked vehicle that belonged to DuBose. When he yelled out at them to stop and they continued, DuBose fired a shot from his porch, which hit Ivhan'e in the upper torso.
She was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center and treated for a gunshot wound to her ribcage and a lacerated liver.
Ivhan'e and her parents were at DuBose's sentencing where they forgave the shooter.
