CLEVELAND -- Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason said a jury has found James Belle, a former corrections officer at the Cleveland House of Corrections in Highland Hills, guilty of sexually assaulting a 24-year-old inmate.
On March 25, while a corrections officer, Belle raped a 24-year-old male inmate. The investigation which entailed DNA evidence linked Belle to the crime.
Belle was found guilty on all of the indicted charges, including one count of rape, one count of kidnapping with a sexual motivation specification, one count of sexual battery, and one count of gross sexual imposition
A hearing is scheduled for November 3 to determine if Belle is a sexually violent predator. Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 30.
In a separate case, Belle was indicted on charges of rape, kidnapping, and gross sexual imposition.

The woman claims he raped her. Police were called that same day and she was treated at Hillcrest Hospital. Belle was arrested at his residence. That case is currently pending.
