The man who died has yet to be identified, and investigators have yet to determine what caused the fire. The house is a total loss.
CLEVELAND - Cleveland Police say a body has been found in an east side home after a fire broke out early Saturday morning.
Police and fire were called to the 2900 block of E. 66th near Wren Avenue after a fire broke out around 6 a.m.
Cleveland Fire Department spokesman Larry Gray said firefighters competed with intense heat and strong winds to bring the blaze under control, keeping it from spreading to nearby houses. "We did a quick attack of the fire. We were able to make entry into the home and get the fire under control pretty rapidly," Gray said.
Fire crews then found the body of an unidentified man in the home. Officials are not yet sure if the man could have been saved. "Not knowing exactly the cause or the time the fire actually started -- and the conditions were going on at the time of fire -- all that has to be determined through our investigation unit," Gray added.
The house directly across the street from the fire sustained severe heat damage. No one in that home was injured.
The man who died has yet to be identified, and investigators have yet to determine what caused the fire. The house is a total loss.
Police say a body has been found in the house but the cause of death is unknown at this time.
