The male in the bus stop was also arrested and a gun was confiscated.
CLEVELAND - Two people were shot at near an east side bus stop Sunday afternoon.
Cleveland police say the incident happened around 1 p.m. in the area of the East 105th and Kempton bus stop.
Officers on scene located one male in his early 20's who told officers that he had been shot at while at the bus stop. Soon after their arrival, officers learned a second male with a gunshot wound was taken by a personal vehicle to the VA Hospital. The second male stated that he had been shot in the area of East 105th and Kempton as well.
Preliminary investigation reveals that the male in the bus stop stated that he was approached by a group of approximately 4 or 5 black males and that following a verbal argument between himself and these males, one member of the group produced a gun. The male in the bus stop reports he pulled out a gun as well and that both males then fired at one another.
Neither shooter was shot. However, one member of the group, a 23-year-old black male, was shot. All members of the group approaching the first male fled on foot.
The male who sustained the gunshot wound was conveyed to the VA by an unknown party and dropped off. A short time later, one member of the group arrived at the VA Hospital to check on the status of the injured male and was arrested by officers at the hospital. The injured male was transported from the VA Hospital to MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment.
The male in the bus stop was also arrested and a gun was confiscated.
This matter will be further investigated by the Fifth District Detective Bureau and anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call 216-623-5518.
