EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio - UPDATE: Suspect Robert Robinson turned himself into police without incident, according to East Cleveland police Friday evening.
----
East Cleveland police have two people in custody and have identified the suspected triggerman in the murder of a teenager this week.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of 18-year-old Robert Robinson. Police said he’ll likely be charged with murder when he’s arrested. Detectives said he frequents the areas of Hough Avenue and East 117th.
The shooting happened at about 3 p.m. Wednesday on Garfield Road near Euclid Avenue.
Officials said 18-year-old Denajua Delaney died after being shot in the head. We learned on Thursday that Delaney was involved in a fist fight that escalated.
Police said Delaney might have been an intended target of the shooting.
Detectives said surveillance video from a nearby school shows five people in a gold Saturn involved in some sort of fight with a group of people on the street. Two people in the car were firing shots out the window, including the driver – who police said was Robinson.
Police said they believe Robinson is the person who shot Delaney. They said he has gang associations.
The two others in custody were also in the car, but police they have not been charged yet.
Police are not yet releasing the surveillance video.
East Cleveland Mayor Gary Norton promised those involved will pay.
"I want to nail every single person that had any role whatsoever in this. This could have happened anywhere. Innocent people, 99.9 percent of the people, should not have to be terrorized by this sort of violence," he said.
Anyone with information about Robinson is asked to contact the East Cleveland Police Department at 216-681-2162.
