CLEVELAND- A 16-year-old boy was found dead in an apartment onCleveland’s east side on Thursday.

 

The teen was in a back bedroom of an apartment on East 140th Street near Kinsman Road at about 6 p.m.


 

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified him as Julian Gaines, 16, of Cleveland. Police say Gaines was shot inside an apartment building on East 140th Street around 6 p.m. Thursday.

 

Officers responded and found the teen in a bedroom with multiple gunshot wounds all over his body. 

A witness told police that a man in his late-teens to early 20s chased the teen into the building and shot him several times.Cleveland police said the 16-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene with a gunshot wound to his neck. His name has not been released.

 

The shooter was wearing a blue jumpsuit and gray hooded-sweatshirt, police said. He was armed with a black 9mm handgun.
