Toddler's death ruled homicide

BEDFORDHEIGHTS-- The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner has ruled Kayla Turner's death a homicide. An autopsy began Monday.

 

Police are investigating the death of the 2-year-old at an apartment complex in the 5800 block ofBear Creek Dr.around 4 p.m. Sunday.

 

Police andEMSwere told by the uncle, Denzel Turner, who was charged for the homicide, that Kayla had reportedly hit her head and was breathing slow but was unconscious.

 

EMS took Kayla toBedfordMedicalCenterwhere she was pronounced dead.

 

enroute,EMScrews noticed bruises on Turner's body that were inconsistent with the original 911 call.

 

Bedfordheights police say they were told she had been staying with her uncle.

 

Once the autopsy is complete, additional charges are likely to be filed.

 

At press time the Medical Examiner still had nothing.
