police_blotter_4_webOn May 15, at 2:39 a.m., it was reported that a man on a bike had been hit by a car at the corner of N. High and Frambes Avenue.


Columbus 

Neatly dressed thief makes computers heist: On May 5, at approximately 7:30 a.m., a neat, casually dressed man wearing the signature OSU colors of a gray jacket, over a red shirt, strolled into the Science and Engineering Library and stole several book bags that contained laptop computers. The brazen thug slung the book bags over his shoulder and unsuspectingly walked out. Security cameras recorded the heist.

Bike rider seriously injured: On May 15, at 2:39 a.m., it was reported that a man on a bike had been hit by a car at the corner of N. High and Frambes Avenue. The man was taken to Ohio State University Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.

Bank robber faked that he had a gun: On May 18, at 4:07 p.m., a man entered the PNC Bank in the 2300 block of S. Hamilton Road, and gave the teller a note that demanded money. Although the robber never showed a weapon, he implied that he had a gun. The police are looking for the rogue who got an undetermined amount of cash.

Pistol waving bandit demands cash register drawer: On May 19, around 12:18 a.m., a pistol waving bandit walked into the Certified Oil Station, located in the 4500 section of Alkire Road. The Crook demanded the register drawer with the money in it and dumped it into a big bag. He left the store running westbound. He was described as a tall thin man, wearing a black hoodie.

Two different men shot on the same street within one minute: On May 21, at 4:07 p.m., police received a call that a man had been shot at the corner of Mound Street and Lilley Avenue. At exactly 4:08 p.m., one minute later, they received another call that another man had been shot down the street at the corner of Mound and Bulen Avenue.

Both men were taken to Grant Medical Center. The shootings are under investigation.

Cleveland 

Motorist upset about dead Goose: On May 22, around 7:33 a.m., several passing motorists reported that there was a dead goose in the middle of the road in front of Doan Creek right of Euclid Avenue. Animal control was sent out to remove.

Officer needs assistance on Benwood Avenue: Around 7:42 a.m., on May 22, an officer radioed for his supervisor asking for help in a situation that had occurred in the 13100 block of Benwood Avenue. Several cars were dispatched to that location.

They started playing loud music at “5 in the morning”: On May 22, around 8:12 a.m., an angry resident in the 1900 block of West 32, called and reported that bunch of young folks in two separate cars, a Grey Dodge Charger and a maroon Buick had been making noise and playing loud music in both cars since 5 a.m., that morning.

Head Deacon reports “somebody broke in the church”: On May 22, at 8:12 a.m., the head deacon at the Missionary Baptist Church in the 3700 block of Cedar Avenue, called and reported that somebody had broken into the church and when he arrived he “found the front door standing wide open.”

Woman’s car sideswiped while she was sleep: On May 22, about 8:32 a.m., a woman in the 4100 block of East 154 Streett called and reported that, when she woke up she noticed that somebody had sideswiped her car that night which was parked in front of her house.

Woman calls police on dog: On May 22, at 10:14 a.m., a woman in the 14100 block of Kingsford Avenue, called and reported that in spite of her complaining to her neighbor, their large Rottweiler dog was running lose throughout the area. Animal control was sent out for the dog.

Man on West 58 Street tearing up stuff: On May 22, about 10:07 a.m., a caller in the 3400 block of West 58 Street, called and reported that a man who is driving a dark Chevy Blazer truck was at location tearing up stuff because he’s mad.

Two neighbors getting ready to fight on Forestdale Ave.: On May 2, around 10:27 a.m., a frantic caller in the 2100 section of Forestdale Avenue reported that there was trouble and that two neighbors were very angry at each other and was getting ready to fight.

People visiting the folks upstairs are causing trouble: On May 22, at about 8:48 p.m., a residence caller from the 3400 block of East 118th reported that some folks visiting the people upstairs were there and causing trouble and they wanted them off the property. A car was sent out to investigate.

Hurry up, neighbors in a bad fight: On May 22, around 8:51 p.m., a distraught caller in the 3000 block of Walton Avenue, reported that two people, who are neighbors, are there and are in a bad fight and for police to hurry up and get there.

Burglar alarm at Harry Buffalo Restaurant: On May 22, at about 9:20 p.m., an alarm was received that someone had entered the front door of the Harry Buffalo Restaurant which is supposed to be closed.

Daddy trying to take the babies from the mama: On May 22, at approximately

8:54 p.m., a call was received from the 3300 block of 118th Street, with a woman screaming in the background who reported that a father was there trying to take the kids away from their mother. Cars were rushed to that location.

Man robbed at gun point in Burger King parking lot: On May 22, around 9:04 p.m., a man called and reported that he had just been robbed at gun point in the Burger King parking lot on Clark Avenue.

A thug slapped an elderly woman: On May 22, at about 9:18 p.m., a person in the 1400 block of East 112th, called and reported that an unknown thug had just slapped a 58 year old woman in the face. A car was sent to investigate the assault.

Two sisters fighting on Ansel Road, one bleeding: On May 22, at about 9::24 p.m., it was reported by a mother in the 1400 section of Ansel Road, that her two daughters are in a bad fight and the 38 year old daughter is bleeding.

Man named “Willie just got robbed”: On May 22, around 9:13 p.m., a caller from a pay phone in the 16000 block of St. Clair Avenue, reported that a man name Willie had just got robbed by a man in a white tee shirt, and that “the thug took Willie’ CDs and his tools.

Woman slapped by her baby’s daddy: On May 16, around 10:29 p.m., a woman in the 800 block of Helmsdale Road, called and reported that she had just been slapped by her child’s father. The man was GOA/ UTl

Man caught trying to break in while Folks at home: On May 16, around 1:18 a.m., a man on Noble Road, reported that somebody kept knocking on his door. After he did not answer, the man then tried to break in. The resident called 911; police arrived and caught the burglar with criminal tools trying to break into the folk’s house. The crook was arrested.

Man threatens to shoot another man and his dog: On May 15, at 2:57 p.m., a caller who was walking his dog on Coventry Road reported that a man had just threatened to shot him and his dog. When police arrived the threatening man was GOA/ UTL

Woman’s boyfriend won’t get out her car: On May 14, at about 5:39 p.m., a woman at Mayfield and Hampshire Road called and reported that her boyfriend was causing a disturbance and won’t get out of her car. She also reported that the boyfriend had hit her dashboard with his fist and she wants him out of her car. Police arrived and advised the man.

Brother broke into his sister’s house: On May 15, around 4:22 in the morning a woman returned to her home on Nelaview Road, which had been broken into by her brother.   Police located the brother, but no charges were filed.

University Heights

Grandfather punches boy for leaving bread open: On May 14, around 2:04 p.m., it was reported from an address on Lansdale Road, that a grandfather allegedly punched his 15 year old grandson in the head because he left a loaf of bread open after he had eaten some. Grandpa denies these charges and said although the boy is very disrespectful and defiant, he didn’t punch him, and the boy had lied.

Patient took medicine from doctor’s office: On May 13, a doctor came into UHPD and reported that a patient had come to her office and took 3 inhalers for a cabinet without permission. According to the doctor’s assistant, the woman was waiting in a closed room to be seen, but she got up and left. Later the assistant discovered and open cabinet was 3 missing inhalers.

Man caught stealing women’s tank tops: On May 12 around 3:15 p.m., Macy’s security caught a man trying to seal 3 packs of women’s tank tops and 3 packs of Calvin Klein socks, which totaled about $ 150.00 and some change. Macy’s said that they are going to prosecute.

Man caught in stolen car needed a ride: On May 12, at 10:59 a.m., a man was caught riding in a stolen car with a friend who was driving. When police asked the man if he knew that the car was stolen he said, “yeah, but it was raining and I needed ride.” The man was charged with receiving stolen property.

Woman beat out of $ 2,500 in flim flam: On May 11, at about 11:55 a.m., a woman went into the UHPD and reported that she had been scammed out of $ 2,500 when she responded on line to a person from overseas who needed a baby sitter in Cleveland for 2 weeks. She said that this was all done by email.

Woman Steals a dress and make up to match: On May 10, at about 4:20 p.m., a security officer at Target’s caught a 22 year old woman removing the tags and stuffing make-up into her purse from the cosmetic department. The woman then walked over to the dress department, found a dress of similar color that matched the make-up, removed the tags and the dress and she stuffed the dress in to her purse. Target will prosecute.

Drunk father shoots at son: On May 9, at approximately 5:50 p.m., UHPD received a 911 call from a 30 year old man in the 4000 block of Bushnell Road, reporting that his daddy had just shot at him several times. Police found several slugs in the walls where the intoxicated dad had been shooting at his son. When police asked the father why he was shooting at his son he said, “I wasn’t trying to hit him.” The man was charged
