Wanted: Creative takes on “Cincinnati’s Singing”
The City of Cincinnati is awarding cash prizes for creative versions of the new city music video starring celebrities, “Cincinnati’s Singing.” The top prize is Best Overall Video, worth $1000. There are $500 prizes for Best Remix, Best Musical Performance and Judges’ Favorite. Local media celebrities will choose the winners.
The entry deadline has been extended to July 14th, to coincide with the end of the World Choir Games. Councilmember Laure Quinlivan hopes musicians and video artists will be inspired by the World Choir Games and create a music video to enter in the city’s contest.
“So far we only have two entries, and I know Cincinnati has more talent than that,” says Quinlivan.
To enter, create your own music video using the same “Proud Mary” melody or a remix, and incorporate the lyrics of the city video “Cincinnati’s Singing”. View the video and see contest details at www.youtube.com/citythatsings.
Cincinnati’s Singing
(tune of Proud Mary, by John Fogerty)
(lyrics by Councilmember Laure Quinlivan)
It’s a good life in the City
Cincinnati’s singing every night and day
The Pops and the opera,
Rock n roll and gospel
Funk & Blues & Schools with performing arts
This city’s really humming
*And the World Choir Games are coming
Cincinnati is rolling, rockin’, Cincinnati’s singing
Cincinnati is rolling, rockin’, Cincinnati’s singing
If you come down to the river,
You’re gonna love our parks and the buildings too
Cincinnati’s growing,
Everything is glowing
People in the city are happy to give
This City’s really humming
*And the World Choir games are coming
Cincinnati is moving, grooving, Cincinnati’s singing
Cincinnati is jumping, swinging, Cincinnati’s singing
Cincinnati is rolling, rockin’, Cincinnati’s singing
Cincinnati is rolling, rockin’, Cincinnati’s singing
