How low can you go? Part II
Ooowee!
I’m getting confused! Maybe I need a much needed break. After visiting the Zoo last week and seeing the people behind the cages (oops, I mean the animals) then, after leaving the zoo and seeing the animals (opps, I mean the humans) walking up and down the street, I’m somewhat puzzled.
As I sat at the traffic light in the “hood,” three young males walked across the street and they looked just like those penguins I saw at the zoo. Their pants were below their butt and, although they wore a belt, they pulled up their pants each time they fell down.
While at the zoo, I saw a mother rooster lead her family. Each baby rooster followed behind her. As I stood in front of the cage, I noticed that the mother rooster would look back to make sure each one remained close behind.
Sitting at another traffic light in the “hood,” I looked at a tall skinny male and a tall skinny female walking across the street with three dirty yet beautiful children still on the sidewalk as the male and female had just about reached the other side. I yelled from my car window, “What forgot about the kids?”
The mother yelled to them, “Move y’all asses now.”
The zoo confused me that it seems the animals are out here and the people are in cages at the zoo. The animals act better than the humans! Ooowee! Maybe I just need a break!
Last week, I addressed the issue of those sagging pants and this week I’ll pick up where I left off. As a man of God, let me go to the word.
The Bible is meant to be bread for daily use and not cake for special occasions.
What’s up with this sagging pants thing and why are many of our youth sagging? I must say, even some older adults are showing their butt?
Most people would learn from their mistakes if they weren’t so busy denying them. I told one young man just yesterday, “Don’t you know how foolish you look, man, walking like a penguin.” Before he could respond I continued, “Don’t you realize that every time your pants drop down, you pull them back up to the rear of your butt.”
His response, “I don’t bother me I’m used to it.”
Then I thought of one of my quotes I use often. “We become what we repeatedly do.” This individual been stuck on stupid so long, following the crowd, that he don’t even realize he’s in denial. He’s become a product of his environment. Even when he goes looking for a job or show up in court, he wonders why people “trip” and ask, “Why did you come to this job interview” or “why did you come to my court showing your butt?”
Remember the saying, “The truth will set you free?” Nowadays you can tell some individuals the truth and they will remain stay stuck on stupid.
Many of the individuals sagging are great minded individuals with a great future yet continue to make their situation today their destination tomorrow.
Proverbs 23:9 states, “Don’t talk sense to a fool; he can’t appreciate it.”
Yet I believe if I talk to ten individuals and one change their thinking which will change their behavior than I’ve made a difference. This is called, “Each One Teach One”.
Proverbs 4:23 states, “Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts.”
After taking to ten “sagging” males, I come to learn that all ten have no father in the home, lack education, have a felony, not employed and all ten said they were leaders not followers.
After sharing with each the difference between a leader and a follower each male walked away still sagging their pants except one individual. “Did he get the point?”
Ooowee! Proverbs 10:17 states, “People who listen when they are corrected will live but those who will not admit that they are wrong are in danger.”
Maybe I need to take these sagging pants individuals to the zoo and, once they see the penguins and how they walk as animals, they will begin to act like humans.
Did I get that right? Maybe I just need a break!
