It’s a New Year… Don’t look back… Part II

Oooweee!

I said it last week the first week of the year and this second week of the year I’m saying it again. If you didn’t read last week’s Bishop Speaks column, stop, go to www.callandpost.com, and pull it up under Bishop Speaks.

If you have last week’s newspaper and have not read it, please catch up to this point. I was making my message “cut-throat” clear.

I ask each of you my readers this question… when should an individual go back in the past? How can one go back into the past without living that past once again?

I said last week that so many individuals are so busy talking about yesterday’s rain that in reality they can’t enjoy today’s sunshine. The only time to really study history is to make sure you don’t repeat it unless it’s positive growth for today and tomorrow.

A woman just said to me yesterday, “Bishop, I’m forty two years old and my past hard life seems to keep me messed up today.” I must confess that she looked like she had a rough life but I responded, “Daughter, let past pain be today’s gain.”

The past can make us bitter or better and I suggest it makes us better.

Let me take each of you to the word of God as I try and make a major point.

In 1 Corinthians, Chapter 13, the writer Paul talks about love. I hear so many people say they are in love but, in reality, they don’t have a clue what love is all about. Paul says in 1 Corinthians, Chapter 13, Verse 4, that “love does not keep a record of wrongs.”

Some people can and will never forget the wrongs you have done but can’t remember what you did right, said right yesterday. These misery love company individuals always take you back to the past. What did I tell each of you my readers last week?

“Let them Go,” take them out your phone book, and caller ID in your cell phone. Anybody, everybody, somebody and this might even be your mother. Take them out of your cell phone book. Well, maybe not momma.

My point being, some people you can love better when talking to them less than talking to them everyday and being drained. Oweee!

I said last week and I’m saying it again, “Don’t look back cause most likely you’ll go back.”

The twenty eight year old women told me last week, “Bishop, I can’t and will never forgive my mother for what she did to me.” I don’t know what her mother did and the woman was surprised when I didn’t ask but I responded to her, “I don’t forgive people because I am weak. I forgive people because I’m strong enough to know people make mistakes.” I went on to tell this beautiful woman, “Not forgiving your mother is not hurting or draining her, it’s hurting and draining you. Let it go.”

As this New Year continues to unfold, I want to give each of you my readers some powerful insights. I want you as you hopefully try and apply some of my points to take one day at a time. Remember that yesterday is gone and tomorrow is not promised so just live for today and, if nothing else, learn from yesterday mistakes.

Each day say, “Lord, I’m grateful for nights that turned into mornings. Friends that turned into family, dreams that turned into reality, and likes that turned into love.” “Ooowee!”

Please feel me and what I’m saying as this year unfolds. Let go of draining people. If you allow more people to make more withdraws then deposits in your life, you will be out of balance and in the negative. KNOW WHEN TO CLOSE THE ACCOUNT! Ooowee!
