It's a New Year, ‘Don't look back’ Part IV

Ooowee!

I said it last week, the week before that and the first week of the year. What have I been saying since the first Bishop Speaks column of the year up till this week the fourth week of this first month of the year? I've been saying, "It's a New Year, don't look back."

But I'm here to tell there are individuals still talking the talk that they won't look back any longer, yet in reality that's just what they are doing. It's a NEW YEAR, but the same old, same old ways with some individuals.

First, if you're have to look back, if you have to go back, even if you have to lean back, then look back to thank God. Quickly after you look back to thank God, look forward and trust God. Ok, now after you look forward and trust God, then look around and serve God. And oh, when you look around and serve God, take another moment and look within and find God. You can put whatever I said in which ever order you want but hopefully you got my point. It's a New Year for a NEW YEAR. Others not on the same page as you this year just leave them in that old chapter of the book.

Next, I also want each of you to know that if you don't know where you stand, you'll feel where you land. Last year when individuals tossed attitude and drama your way, ask yourself why did you open your hands to catch it? See, it's not what's tossed your way, it's what you catch. This year in order to be whom you want to be, you'll have to drop who you use to be. You simply can't have it both ways as so many individuals want.

Here's another old saying that I used to hear; "Stand for something or fall for anything." I've changed it a little. "Stand for something or fall for everything." They trying to live what they see, and that's who they be."

Now a days you have to ask some people, "Who are you today?" As we look at our own children, many have become what say see on TV and Social Networks. Instead of reflecting the mother or father, it's the rap artist on the TV. It's the thugs on the street they are trying to become. Parents this is why it's so important that you train your children for the day will come when you will respond to what they have become.

As this year is very quickly unfolding let it be a New Year of stop trying to make sense out of nonsense. Call it what it is, and what it is you just ought to call it, but the best way to not even have to call a fool out is simply not being around a fool. Proverbs 26:4 states, "If you answer a silly question, you are just as silly as the person who asked it." You ever have an individual standing right in front of you and you say something to them with them responding, "You talking to me?" This year let that individual go and you move on in life. Have you ever tried and talk sense to a fool? Let me ask another question. See a wise man and a fool can't run together. Somebody is going to give in and somebody is going to give out. I rather be by myself than try and run with a fool or try and talk sense to a fool. Proverbs 23:9 states, "Don't try and talk sense to a fool; he can't appreciate it." Don't be a fool, don't be around fools and don't be fooled. Ooowee! It's a NEW YEAR!

As we move into this year remember we cannot direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails. We have the power to have control over each day that we wake up to.

As this year continues to unfold, learn how to make yourself feel special. Listen, anyone can make you happy by doing something special, but only someone special can make you happy without doing anything. This year don't expect anything special from no one and if someone makes you feel special count it as a blessing, and if no one blesses you, "bless your self," Amen!

Just don't look back, look forward, and move forward trusting God. And another thing, this year “Aspire to inspire before you expire!” If you didn’t understand what I just said, read it again.
