Having your say and having your way, pre plan!
Ooowee!
What a wonderful feeling, just a wonderful feeling to say the least. I hear somebody asking the question: "What wonderful feeling are you're talking about Bishop Moultry? First as I did in last week's Bishop Speaks column, I’m doing it again this week.
I'm thanking my Eighty-Seven year old precious mother who turns eighty-eight next month for encouraging me and starting the process a year or so ago. “What process,” I hear somebody asking? The process of having my way, by having my say in pre-planning where I want to be buried, how I want to be buried, and even what I want to have on in the coffin when being viewed. I'm here to tell everybody that when it comes to death we have NO CHOICE, so why not do the right thing and HAVE YOUR SAY AND HAVE IT YOUR WAY while you're able to do so. While eating a great Sunday meal at my mother’s this past Sunday, with joy in her eyes she handed me the invoice which stated how much left to pay on my lot, or is it my plot, at the Lakeview Cementary where this temple of mine will be put in the ground. "Wow, it's under three hundred dollars left and it will be paid in full, thanks momma for encouraging me and assisting me in starting this pre-planning process."
I'll never forget when I visited the Lakeview Cemetery. It was a beautiful sunny, warm day and the breeze was light. I drove around in the cart with one of the workers and I looked over here and there. Maybe I want to be under that tree, facing maybe the East or West, or maybe I want to be by the pond. I'll never forget asking the question, "You said how much to be by the pond?" Well, I guess I didn't like water that much after all. I selected my spot and every now and than I even visit my spot, stand on it knowing I had my say, and I'll have my way when I can't speak for myself, but all the paperwork will have been done and every cent paid. WHAT A WONDERFUL FEELING.
I ask each of you my readers a few questions, so bear with me. Why is it that everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die? Why is it that irresponsible people want responsible people to do what they should be doing in regards to handling their business preparing for death by pre-planning? As a minister I prepare my sermons to preach on Sundays. I prepare to do weddings, funerals, and counseling sessions. I trust God and prepare for tomorrow each night before I pray and jump in bed. Why don't we prepare for DEATH? At fifty-seven turning fifty eight in November, I'm in the best of health, work out at the gym daily, feeling great and prepared for DEATH. Why must one wait to get bad news regarding their health and while under stress prepare for death? Many individuals receive bad News yet still do not prepare for death. SAD but TRUE!
The seventy eight year-old women was told she had cancer by her doctor. He told her the cancer was spreading and that she had maybe a week to live. She responded, "Doctor, I know the greatest doctor of all and he has the last say." Her doctor smiled, hugged her and agreed. The women's family visited her and told her, "Moma, you have money in the bank, three homes you own. You have two cars. Moma, tell us what to do and get things in order." She responded, "I got the faith and I know a doctor named King Jesus and he has the last say." Her children smiled, hugged her and agreed with her. Two days later she died and now all her business is a mess being handled by the State. I believe she truly went home to be with the Lord, but she left her earthly home in a Mess. I bury a lot of people with FAITH! Having faith, getting faith and keeping faith don't keep one from dying. AMEN Somebody!
What's my point? "Have your way by having your say and pre-plan.
