A Spiritual Mind in 2013........
Ooowee!
The Spirit of the Lord was in the house at the first Sunday of the Year Worship Service here at the In Touch for Christ Christian Center. It was also Communion Sunday, being the 1st Sunday of the month, so that was even more powerful, as we, the family of God shared in the Death and Resurrection of Christ in receiving his precious body and blood that he shared for us on the Cross.
The message entitled, "A Spiritual Mind in these times, 2013." Oooweee! I had the message written down, yet the Spirit of the Lord added so much more to it and using the WORD of GOD as my Foundation, I Let Go and Let God.
Ok, for this 1st Bishop Speaks Column, I want each of you to stop and go get your bible. Ok, turn with me to Proverbs 3:5, 6. I preach from the Good News Bible, the modern English translation. I don't want no old English to get in the way when making the Word of God Cut-Throat Clear.
Proverbs 3:5,6 reads, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know. Remember the Lord in everything you do, and he will show you the right way."
I'm going to invite you all, my readers, to Part II of my sermon for this 2nd Sunday of January at the 11a.m. service, but because you missed part I this past Sunday, the first Sunday of the year, let me quickly break it down – a little of what I made "Cut-Throat" Clear. But let me start by saying that we, the church, are often so heavenly bound we are no earthly good. Jesus is concerned not only about our Spiritual State, which is the most important, but he's concerned about our Physical State, including our Mental State as well, but believe me, first comes the SPIRITUAL STATE, which is the battery needed in any car.
See, what the mind thinks is what the mind does. Ooowee! Read real quickly with me Isaiah 26:3, "You, Lord, give perfect peace to those who keep their purpose firm and put their trust in you."
In 2013, to have a Spiritual Mind, start by getting and having peace in the mist of the storms in your life, by trusting God, and leaning not on your own understanding. See people talk change, yet change is a process and it starts right now, taking one day at a time. Remember I also said Jesus is concerned about our physical state as well? Turn your bible with me to Matthew 15:32, "Jesus called his disciples to him and said, "I feel sorry for these people because they have been with me for three days and now have nothing to eat. I don't want to send them away without feeding them, for they might faint on their way home." Ooowee!
What's a Spiritual Mind? Jesus preached the WORD, the Spiritual FOOD came followed by those individuals being WORTHY to receive human food and favor from God. Ooowee! Each of you should feel my spirit right about now. 99% of individuals that called this church last year, or my personal cell phone including personal friends, wanted me or the church to address their human needs, forgetting what the true purpose of my calling or the Church Mission is first.
Many people want the blessings and favor of God, yet have nothing to do with God. Sometimes the preacher can be a Social Worker more than a Spiritual Worker of God. WHY? Jesus here preached for three days spiritual messages and followed with feeding those that were WORTHY to be fed. Ooowee! How many of you, my readers, would eat at McDonald's and then go pay Burger King?
The same people that missed church services with excuses last year most likely started this year again. Ok, they have to work every Sunday! That's cool with me! They don't feel good and it starts either Saturday or Sunday morning. They don't attend bible class during the week, another excuse with other more important things to do. Cool with me! They say the Lord is the head of their life but in reality if he's not on the top of their list and at the end or maybe not even on your list, they are lying. Yet these same individuals will call the preacher instead of attend church and see the preacher and talk to him or her after service. They will want favor knowing they are not worthy for favor and if they receive favor as so many did from me or this church last year, or even your church they will go after receiving favor not even giving God the Praise by attending the place where they got the favor in the first place. Ooowee, read that Power Point again if you didn't catch it.
In 2013 I'm walking in the Spirit of the Lord with a Spiritual Mind, hitting hard in a Spiritual Way of doing things and not dealing with individuals not even worthy for me to return their call or address their situation until they are WORTHY to receive FAVOR and blessings from God through his earthly Church and Servant of God.
