SUNDAY

St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 2171 E. 49th Street, Cleveland, will be celebrating its annual Family Unity Day on Sunday, (6/3/2012) at 10:30 a.m.  The speaker will be Mr. Randell McShepard, vice president of Public Affairs for RPM International, one of Cleveland’s leading manufacturing and specialty companies.  He is also the 2011 Black Professional of the Year. Pastor Jawanza Colvin and The Keepers of Faith, Hope and Heritage Ministry of the Olivet Institutional Baptist Church is traveling to Turkey on the Journeys of the Apostle Paul, July 23, 2012 through August 4, 2012. This sacred destination pilgrimage will begin in Antioch at the site of the first Christian church and continue through Ephesus and the cities of Asia Minor where Paul preached the gospel to the Gentiles. Tarsus, Laodicea, Thyatira, Troy and Istanbul are just a few of the cities they will visit on their journey. Detailed below are some highlights of the scheduled activities:
Antakya Archeological Museum at Antioch where Paul was commissioned by the first church:
•   The Grotto of St. Peter, one of the earliest Christian houses of worship
•   Tarsus, the hometown of the Apostle Paul and learning center of the ancient world
•  Second Century paved city street along with a colonnaded podium and remains of Roman theater near where Paul and Barnabas fled to Derbe (2 Timothy 3:11)
•   Antioch of Pisidi, the Roman colony where Paul preached on his first journey
•  Ephesus, the well preserved ancient city of Christian significance and focus of one epistle
•    From the home of Lydia, maker of purple cloth, to the capital city of Pergamum
•    Alexander Troas, the harbor where Paul sailed to Philippi
•   Istanbul, Turkey, capital of the ancient Eastern Roman Empire and home of St. Sophia Christian.
