Reverend Robert M. Dix, Jr. and his wife Lady Sabrina Dix celebrated their 4th pastoral anniversary at United Missionary Baptist Church with three packed days of celebration. Friday evening started off with Pastor Benjamin Franklin Jr. and Inner Healing Ministries.
Saturday, they had a banquet at Toscana Party Center in Cuyahoga Heights and the Reverend Clifton Rawlings was the speaker.
Sunday morning, the speaker was Minister Chris Attaway.
The celebration ended with Reverend Johnny F. Twymon, and the Blessed Hope Baptist Church, who packed the church out. Tymon spoke about standing strong as a pastor and serving the Lord.
Blessed Hope choir sang such great songs as “Down by the Riverside,” “Wait on Him,” and “We are not Ashame.”
Brother Terry Anderson gave a short talk about what Reverend Dix means to him.
A special highlight came when Lady Gail Twymon spoke words of encouragement to Lady Sabrina Dix. She said being married to a pastor can be hard work and it takes much prayer.
Dix is a native of Cleveland and was baptized at The Open Door Missionary Baptist Church in 1978 by the late Reverend Horace Rickerson. He received his license to preach the gospel in 2000 and was ordained in 2007 under his pastor, Reverend Dr. Benjamin Franklin, Jr.
Pastor Dix was called to United Missionary Baptist Church on May 30, 2007.
With “Building God’s Kingdom, One Soul at a Time” as the motto, Dix strongly believes that it is not by accident that United is in the heart of the inner city.
“We’re in a good position, on fertile ground. “We are the beckoning light in this community, leading the unsaved to and wayward back to Christ,” he said.
Under his leadership, United continues to expand numerically, financially, physically, and most of all spiritually.
With 35 need-based ministries in operation and being led by God, United has proven to be the church Christ is calling for in the 21st Century.
Dix is an anointed preacher and teacher and has been called to serve various ministries locally and nationally as a guest preacher and teacher. He is also on staff as a Chapel Minister and Concierge at The Gaines Funeral Home in Cleveland, Ohio since 2003.
From October 2004 to August 2006, he served as the interim pastor of the Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio. He is a member of The Baptist Minister’s Conference of Cleveland, Ohio and Vicinity and The Baptist Pastors Council of Cleveland and Vicinity.
Graduating from Warrensville Heights High School in 1989, Dix enlisted in to the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge in 1998. He continued his education by attending Cuyahoga Community College, majoring in Business Administration.
In 2002, he completed his undergraduate degree in theology with a concentration in Black Church Studies at Ashland Theological Seminary. Dix is currently enrolled in Andersonville Theological Seminary, seeking his Master of Ministry degree with a concentration in Pastoral Leadership.
Dix was employed as a sales manager at Arch Wireless, Inc. from 1996 to 2002. In 2003, Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Juvenile Division Honorable Judge Janet E. Burney appointed Dix to position of bailiff. Since 2005, he has held a position of mediator in the Intake and Diversion Department of the same court where he continues to serve families and the community.
A devoted family man, Dix is the eldest of two sons born to Robert and Dorothy Dix (brother, Eric). He is happily married to Sabrina. He is the proud father of his son, Robert, III, and daughter Emani. They also raised three adult children, Tameka, LaTasha, and Daryl and have one grandson, Daryl Jr.
