Northeast Ohio Players to Compete in 2012 ACHA Men’s Division 1 National Championships, March 2-7

CLEVELAND, OH (February 23, 2012) – Hosted by the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission and Kent State University, the best in men’s college hockey will burn up the ice March 2-7, 2012 at Hoover Arena in Strongsville, Ohio as 20 teams compete to be named ACHA Division 1 National Champions. This year, there are over 25 athletes from Northeast Ohio competing in the tournament.

Second-round games are scheduled for Sunday, March 4th with semi-finals to take place on Tuesday, March 6th, culminating with the Championship Game on Wednesday, March 7th at 7:30pm. Tickets are now on sale for the ACHA Men’s Division 1 National Championships and can be purchased at Hoover Arena or by visiting www.achacleveland.com.  Tickets start at just $10 for a day pass.

Later in the month on March 17th, Cleveland will also host the 5thAnnual ACHA Men’s Division 1 All-Star Game where forty of the best ACHA players will showcase their talents while representing their individual schools in an entertaining game and skills competition. The game will start at 7:15pm and take place at Gilmour Academy Ice Arena in Gates Mills, Ohio. More information can also be found at www.achacleveland.com.

The American Collegiate Hockey Association began as a men’s collegiate hockey organization for the 1991-1992 season.  The ACHA currently boasts five total divisions (Men’s Division 1, 2, and 3; Women’s Division 1 and 2) with over 445 teams representing 49 different states, all but Hawaii.
