CLEVELAND, OH – The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has re-signed CA LUKE CARLIN to a minor league contract with a non-roster invitation to Major League spring training camp.
Carlin, 30, has spent the last season and a half in the Indians organization and spent the entire 2011 campaign at AAA Columbus where he hit .213 (40-188) with 8 2B, 5HR & 27RBI in 63 games. The switch-hitting catcher drew 44 walks against just 45 strikeouts for a season on-base % of .364 and was on the DL for 5 weeks in June and July with right elbow soreness. He hit .278 (5-18) w/a 2B, 2HR & 8RBI in 5 Triple A playoff games.
