CLEVELAND – Kansas City Chief’s wide receiver, Chris Chambers, will be hosting his 8th year of football camps in his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio.

Chambers and his C.A.T.C.H. (Children Achieving Through Community Help) 84 Foundation will be hosting a Youth Football Skills Camp open for all children ages 9-14. In addition, he will be hosting a 7 on 7 High School Football Skills Camp, which will include 12 high school teams from the Ohio area.

The Youth Skills Camp will be held on Friday, June 24, from noon to 5 p.m. and the 7 on 7 High School Football Skills Camp will be held on Saturday, June 25th, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Both camps will be held at Chambers’ alma mater, Bedford High School (481 Northfield Road, Cleveland 44146).

These are free camps with the purpose to teach young players the offensive and defensive fundamentals of football to further enhance their athletic ability through instructional training drills and remedial practices.

The heart of the camp consists of learning techniques and skills for immediate application. Some of Chambers’ NFL and college teammates/friends along with varsity coaches will provide instruction on both the physical and mental aspects of the game within designated station areas.

The high school camp is by invitation only, but we are accepting registrations for the Youth Football Skills Camp today. Please contact us at (216) 481-7685 or visit us at www.catch84.com to download a registration form.

In addition to the football camp, the C.A.T.C.H. 84 Foundation along with long-time supporter, Key Bank, will be giving out a $2,500 scholarship to a deserving area high school student who has displayed excellent sportsmanship during the 2010-2011 academic and athletic years.

This is the 5th year that Key Bank has supported this scholarship as they have donated $12,500 over the years to help award scholarships to seven deserving students.

Key Bank and C.A.T.C.H. 84 have also partnered this year with the support of NFL Charities to host several of the participating schools to a day of financial education in the Fall. C.A.T.C.H. 84 will be sponsoring the visits from the schools to the Key Bank Financial Education Center, where they will go through the Check it Out and Charge it Right courses and also participate in a Q&A session with Chris Chambers.

At the end of the day, students over the age of 18 will receive a donation to open a bank account as part of the Cleveland Saves program and students under the age of 18 will receive a savings bond.

“We are happy to support the C.A.T.C.H. 84 Foundation again this year,” said Poppie Parish, director of KeyBank’s financial literacy program. “Key’s mission is to help clients and communities thrive, and we’re teaming with Chris Chambers to help these student athletes thrive by providing them all with a day of financial education, and by providing scholarship money to help some students continue their educations.”

This marks the eight year that Chambers will host football camps. In 2005, he established the C.A.T.C.H. 84 Foundation (Children Achieving Through Community Help). The Foundation is committed to helping young people look beyond their current circumstances by promoting self-fulfillment through physical fitness and educational programs.
