Rep. Marcia Fudge Unites Clergy for Voter Drive


Congresswoman Marcia Fudge joined the United Pastor in Mission in urging a massive campaign to educate, register and promote voter participation ahead of the critical general election in November.

Rep Fudge met with more than powerful 75 member United Pastors in Mission, led by president Dr. Larry L. Macon, Sr. Pastor of Mt. Zion on Tuesday April 5.

Members decided to forge a partnership with Rep. Fudge to support causes that effect the poor, disenfranchised and those dealing social issues.

“Cleveland is one of the highest food deserts in the U.S. and many of the children, seniors and families are going hungry. Good education is lacking and many of the kids in our schools are homeless. Safety is a problem and we need to join with the churches in making our communities safe,” the pastors pledged.

Advocating for a process to work more closely with the Congresswoman, who has become one of UPM’s chief advisors.

Rep. Fudge will be instrumental helping structure a clearer platform for public policy that enhance the livelihood of all people.

“The Congresswoman has a wealth of knowledge and resources to help the community to engage in healthy paradigms that challenges today’s communities,” said Dr. Tony Minor, the Executive Director.

The membership which includes both female and male pastors hail from diverse denominations and were affirming Rep. Fudge’s leadership on particular issues such as the Get-Out- to-Vote campaign to ensure that members of their congregations and community are not only registered, but also motivated to vote in the general election for the candidate and issues impacting the community. Their threefold plan is voter registration, voter participation and voter education.
