A Record Night for Cavs

The Cleveland Cavaliers began the season as a favorite to win the NBA championship, but along the way played second fiddle to the record setting season of the Golden State Warriors, which won a historic 73 regular season games.

Throughout the journey, the Cavs fired their head coach David Blatt and replaced him with assistant Tyronn Lue.

Lue transformed the team from a half-court tempo into a more fast pace squad that resembled the Warriors.

He initially brought star forward Kevin Love off the bench, challenged mega star LeBron James and now after two games in the Eastern Conference Semi Finals the Cavs have the attention of the basketball world and just as importantly their title starved fans in Northeast Ohio.

Those fans felt like they were being teased, at least until Wednesday night when the team established a new NBA record for made 3-point baskets with 25 against the Atlanta Hawks enroute to a 123-98 shellacking and a 2-0 series lead.

James led all scores with 27, JR Smith had 23 with 7 three pointers and Kyrie Irving finished with 19 points in a watershed performance at the Q.

However, as good as the Cavs were in game 2, they have not won anything yet.

They should be reminded of the Spurs blowout victory against the Thunder in game 1 of their Western Conference Semi Finals, but lost at home in game 2.

Mind you the Hawks don’t have Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook like the Thunder, but in this league you can’t take anything for granted.

Game 3 is in Atlanta, but if you are a Cavs fan you have to be feeling really good right now.
