First Energy to offer jobs at community forum

The esteemed Rev. E.T. Caviness is joined by Prosecutor Elect Mike O’Malley at The Clergy Coalition forum along with Rev. Dr. L.T. King. The forum attracted more than 300 people and addressed the issues of gun violence in the Black community.

The Cleveland Clergy Coalition has scheduled its second Community Forum at Mt. Olive Baptist Church 3290 East 126th Street Cleveland Ohio on Aug.16 at 6p.m.

The Forum will include a panel discussion moderated by community activist Barsheer Jones aimed at solving violence in our community, criminal justice reform, economic empowerment and why voting matters.

In addition to the panel discussion First Energy will provide information on employment opportunities with their company.

First Energy has Partnered with Cleveland Clergy Coalition provide job opportunities to our community. Cleveland Clergy understands putting people to work is one of the best solutions to end the violence that plagues our community. First Energy has decided to become a part of the solution and will be accepting job applications at the forum.

Additionally First Energy has also partnered with the Cleveland Clergy Coalition to provide 200 book bags with supplies for our kids going back to school. The book bags will be given on a first come basis so you want to get there early.

This is the second forum the Cleveland Clergy Coalition has held this summer. Over 300 people attended the first forum at Greater Abyssinia Baptist Church in July. The Coalition took action after the first forum which resulted in 137 people canvassing in the neighborhoods during the RNC. The canvass yielded 178 newly registered voters, made contact with 4500 registered voters and knocked on 7100 doors.

The Clergy Coalition includes: Baptist Ministers Conference, Rev. Dr. L.T. King President, Baptist Pastor Council, Rev. Dr. H Gater President, Mt. Pleasant Clergy Alliance, Rev. Dr. Larry Harris President, East Cleveland Concerned Pastors, Pastor Shawn Braxton President, and Federation of Churches, President Rev. Dr. Andrew Clark.

The Community Forum will provide quality dialogue and action steps to empower our community.

Moreover, discussions will direct relationship of voting and economic development in our community. Our action steps from this Forum are providing opportunities for employment with First Energy.
