Week 1 - Good to the last kick

The first high school football week of 2016 high school football will go down as the most exciting of all-time.
From Thursday to Saturday, high school football was like Folger's Coffee, "Good to the last drop".
The week was filled with a lot of amazing plays and dramatic endings. Terreance Colvin of Shaker Heights Red Raiders got things running by scoring the first touchdown of the season by going 80-yards for a touchdown on the opening kick-off. The week ended with a blocked extra-point in a double-overtime 33-32 victory for Youngstown Ursuline verses hosting Benedictine.
Sandwich in between like a Subway foot-long there were some good meat and veggies.
On Friday, Bedford put up a stadium record 68 points in their 68-34 victory over Berea-Midpark. Bedford lead at the half, 32-28. The Bearcats senior quarterback Arshuan Boone had five touchdown passes.
Nordonia and Mayfield had another season-opening classic battle. Nordonia edged the Wildcats 38-37. It was 21-21 after the first quarter.
Brecksville edge Padua 36-34. Padua's 2-pt conversion failed at the end. Brecksville's senior quarterback Luke Strnad had four touchdown passes and he ran for one. For the Bruins, Kevin Peterson had five touchdown passes. Four of them went to Alexander Ludwick.
Willoughby South scored the last 14 points and beat NDCL 33-19. John Hay almost pulled off an upset. Orange beat them 21-14. The Hornets had a 14-0 lead in the second quarter.
On Sunday, Youngstown Ursuline and host Benedictine went back and forth. In the middle, was a 80-minute lighting delay. Ursuline Fighting Irish led 26-17 in the fourth. The Bengals scored the last nine and send the game into overtime at 26.
In the extra session, both coaches thought outside of the box. The Fighting Irish won the coin-flip, but they elected to receive. The Fighting Irish did not score, and the Bengals had a chance to win. However, John Dosen missed the 27-yard field goal and the Irish have new life.
The Irish Spencer Warren went through Bengals' defenders for a 20-yard touchdown. His third of the night. Their extra-point was good, 33-26 the Irish. The Bengals would score a touchdown, but the extra point was dramatic. The Irish jumped off-sides on the first snap. However, Bengals head coach Carter Welo elected not to move the ball half-the distance from the 2-yard line to the 1-yard line. Dogen's extra-point was blocked and Irish won 33-32.
