Happy 100th Birthday Mrs. Kate Jones

Mrs. Kate Jones (Katie Mabel Floyd) will be celebrating her 100th Birthday on March 21, 2017. Lovingly, described by her family as strong in heart, kind, great sense of humor, spiritual, and a most gracious and giving woman. She was born in Elmore County, Wetumpka, Alabama in the year of 1917 and moved to Cleveland, OH in the early 1940’s. Once moving to Cleveland, Kate purchased her home in 1951 in the Glenville area in which she still resides in today. In May 1977, she retired from University Hospitals – Rainbow and Babies Children’s Division as a Nurse’s Aide. 100 years on this earth is a major milestone and she is the Matriarch of the Floyd family. From Wars to Civil Rights Movements, the Great Depression, 17 Presidents and counting including our first African American President Barack Obama, Kate has witnessed it all; a lot of history throughout the years.

Kate loves her home, interacting with family and friends and is blessed to have a living sister who is 97 years old Annie Maude Kelly. On a hot summer day, you can catch her drinking a vanilla milkshake, which is one of her favorites. Kate loves to listen to books on audio, read romance novels, appreciates great music of rhythm and blues, show tunes, hymns and gospel songs. A faithful churchgoer is Kate who is a member of Lee Memorial A.M.E. church in Cleveland, OH.

Mrs. Kate Jones is the proud mother of one daughter Annie Dee Jones, has two nieces, Edith Hill and Edna Milner, one nephew Homer Floyd and a host of great, /great, great, / and great, great, great niece’s and nephew’s.
