Highland Hills Mayor Robert Nash Succumbs

Funeral services for Highland Hills Mayor Robert Nash will be held on Saturday Oct; 26 at Cathedral Church of God in Christ located at 2940 Martin Luther King Blvd in Cleveland.

Nash was the first and only mayor of Highland Hills. Nash succumbed on Oct, 19th he was 75.

Nash had requested some time two days before his death for medical reasons and named Village Council President Michael Booker as acting mayor.

"He was battling Parkinson's (disease) and had some other complications," Booker told a local newspaper website, adding that he does not know the exact cause of Nash's death.

Nash had been the mayor since Highland Hills incorporated in 1990.

"He's been the mayor for 28 years, being a seven-term mayor and building this village," Booker said. "I just think that he was a visionary and he's done an incredible job."

Booker will be the acting mayor for the remainder of Nash's term, which is up in January 2020.

Most of Nash's family is out of town, Booker said. "They're coming in town right now."
