DR. ALEX JOHNSON AND TEAM Tri-C Strive For Higher Learning

Question: What advanced programs of learning are available to Cleveland students who are not being properly educated? Dr. Alex Johnson: With respect to Cleveland students, we have a long-standing relationship with Cleveland Metropolitan School District. It has gone on for decades. There are a couple of highlights. The High Tech Academy involves seven high schools from throughout Cleveland. It is open to students beginning in the 9th grade. They must qualify. They have to be ready for College level English. We give them the opportunity to participate in an original pr

CAREER DAY FOR REBELS...Rufus Hamm (#19) and Johnny Cullins had a field day against John F. Kennedy. Hamm, quarterback, threw for a school-record 507 yards. He was nine for 12 with 4 touchdowns. Cullins caught three of those touchdowns for 237 yards. He had touchdown receptions of 67, 75 and 95 yards. Coach Gary Jackson believes that 237 yards might be a school-record too. John Adams beat JFK 48-38. Week 7 in high school football in Northeast Ohio was probably the best action this season. There were upsets. A few teams remain undefeated. There were high scoring and record-breaking individual performances. No. 10 in the Call and Post’s Top 15, Solon Comets took on the undefeated and hosting N

Part 1 While reviewing available educational opportunities in Cuyahoga County, it became apparent that inequity and disparity as it pertains to the disadvantaged and deprived citizens in this County is enormous, especially when the future is a serious consideration. In an interview with Dr. Alex Johnson, we discussed efforts in the county and especially in the Cleveland area to raise educational levels as well as the state of consciousness to improve one's perspective on oneself. These changes alone will help to provide needed improvements in the community. To receive a High School Diploma, GED or to be certified in an area of expertise enhances life as well as opens doors of opportunities t

PROSECUTOR MIKE O’MALLEY SPEAKS TO THE COMMUNITY...Part III

Question: Do you think that the makeup of the courts truly represents the community, which it serves? O’Malley: Let’s look at the numbers. We know thirty something percent of Cuyahoga County is African American. The numbers do not reflect the racial composition of our community. I think that when you look at our court that the vast majority of the judges, at least 95% of our court are probably democrats. A significant part of the courts are democrats but I think that we as a democratic party should do a better job of approving candidates, putting those candidates forward, getting the community behind our candidates so that the judiciary does reflect the composition of the County. Question: C

PROSECUTOR MIKE O’MALLEY SPEAKS TO THE COMMUNITY Part II

Question: And that brings me to the next question because I thank you Mr. Edwards for your question. Where is the prosecutor’s office as it pertains to mental health patients being evaluated and released from the County Jail or if they don’t need to be released from the County Jail? The goal that I have been working in collaboration with is to have one on the Eastside and the Westside. We need to have centers where police officers can quickly bring people undergoing a mental health crisis to try to divert them away from the criminal justice system because i
