Indians needs to make a trade
The judge is in and the verdict reads "The Indians needs a trade". After being swept in a three-game series against the Baltimore Orioles, the all of the sudden light-hitting and light-scoring Cleveland Indians needs some extra lumber in their line-up. The trade deadline is August 1.
The Indians (56-41), who still holds the lead in the American League Central by six games over the Detroit Tigers, batted .226 and was .192 with runners in scoring position. The Orioles, the leaders in the American League East, had pitchers like Dylan Bundy. The 23-year-old baffled the Tribe in their first outing 5-1. He went five innings and the bullpen did the rest. In Saturday's game, Kevin Gausman handcuffed the Indians for seven innings and picked up his second victory of the season. He is now 2-7. And today's ballgame, Vance Worley was even better in their 5-3 win. Who would have thought that the Orioles (57-40) could go 3-0 against Trevor Bauer, Josh Tomlin and All-Star Corey Kluber? However, the Orioles do have the best record at home at 36-14.
Here is what the Indians batters did against the Orioles: Mike Napoli 1-11 with seven strike outs, Jose Ramirez 1-11 and Carlos Santana 1-9.
Now the Indians have a rest day, before their two-game home game with the Washington Nationals (58-41) on Tuesday. Could the Indians make a move? They may not make a trade on Monday, but they have a week to go to improve their roster. They might face the Orioles in the playoffs.
The Chicago Cubs pulled off a blockbuster deal. The Cubs (59-38) with the best record in the MLB, acquired flame-thrower Aroldis Champman from the New York Yankees.
The Yankees are the ones that usually make these kinds of deals. But the Cubs needed a closer and they got the best one.
