Mayor Frank G. Jackson Delivers 2018 State of the City Address Oct. 10

CLEVELAND – City of Cleveland residents, neighborhood organizations, business leaders and members of the general public are invited for an evening of civic engagement at Mayor Frank G. Jackson’s 2018 State of the City.

The event will be held Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. in Cleveland Public Hall. It offers a new more community-focused and affordable address format. This is the first year the event is free and open to the public. Registration is required by Oct. 5 at http://bit.ly/CLESOTC18. “This is my thirteenth State of the City address since becoming Mayor,” said Mayor Frank G. Jackson. “It is my goal to make the event more accessible to the public - by shifting to the evening and making it free of charge. This is important and gives residents, businesses, non-

profit organizations and the philanthropic community a chance to attend together and hear firsthand from me about all that is happening in our city.”

Mayor Jackson – currently in his historic fourth term – has committed to continuing the work of growing the city, while improving Cleveland’s neighborhoods. This State of the City address will highlight achievements in the present term as well as new solutions to improve residents’ quality of life. The Mayor promised and is delivering on multiple plans to advance the city’s neighborhoods, noting they are vital to securing Cleveland’s future.

Since his Jan. 2018 inauguration, Mayor Jackson announced large-scale neighborhood initiatives including the first phase of his $65 million Neighborhood Transformation Initiative, the Safe Smart CLE initiative to upgrade the city’s technology and streetlights; the installation of trauma counselors in the city’s 21 recreation centers and more.

The Mayor has consistently communicated that increased public safety, balanced budgets, increased services to every neighborhood; ongoing school reform and economic growth in healthcare, education, research, financial services and manufacturing have come through the collective work of multiple sectors of the city. The State of the City will highlight that continued cooperative approach to Cleveland’s evolution into a great city. Since Mayor Jackson’s first address, he has changed the State of the City format a few times.
